The Institute for Security Preparedness (ISP) utilizes a Job Task Analysis (JTA) process to ensure that certification programs, assessments, and learning outcomes reflect current industry standards and workforce expectations. A Job Task Analysis is a systematic method used to identify and define the knowledge, skills, abilities, duties, and tasks required for competent performance within a profession, occupation, or career field.

The JTA serves as the foundation for certification development by identifying the critical functions, responsibilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance. The process evaluates the relative importance of specific duties and tasks to ensure that training materials, assessments, and certification requirements accurately measure workforce-relevant competencies.

ISP’s Job Task Analyses are developed and validated by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) representing education, industry, public safety, military, security, forensic science, veterinary science, emergency management, and other related professions. SMEs provide documented expertise and practical experience to ensure the validity, reliability, and relevance of certification standards and assessment instruments.

The results of the JTA are used to develop certification blueprints, curriculum frameworks, learning objectives, assessment criteria, and performance standards. ISP periodically reviews and updates its Job Task Analyses to maintain alignment with changing industry requirements, educational standards, technological advancements, and workforce needs.
